Trade runs on documents.
Automation runs on data.

Together, Enigio and Cleareye show how one trusted digital original can power both — seamlessly, securely, and across any ecosystem.

The shift:

From digital documents to intelligent trade data

The industry has moved from paper to PDFs, but not much further. And it's holding trade back. Documents still get scanned, retyped, reconciled, and questioned at every step.

The real leap forward happens when a document is born as a tamper-proof, legally valid digital original, and its embedded structured data can be instantly interpreted, validated, and automated across systems.

When trust meets intelligence, data becomes the new trade asset.

This is the transformation Enigio and Cleareye are delivering and proving in real, live trade flows.

Trusted digital originals with structured data

A trace:original document is:

  • Tamper-proof
  • Transferable
  • Fully machine-readable
  • Embedded with structured data from creation

Plus, no scanning, no portals, and no platform lock-in. You can digitise any document and send it to anyone with no need for onboarding.

Intelligent interpretation validation, and automation

Cleareye’s AI and rules engine:

  • Interprets the structured data
  • Validates it against compliance frameworks
  • Aligns it with standards like ICC KTDDE
  • Triggers automated workflows across banking processes
  • Removes manual checks still left over even in “digital” processes

Why it matters

TRADE NEEDS TWO THINGS AT THE SAME TIME:

DOCUMENTS

Documents you can trust

layer-original2

DATA

Data you can act on

Most solutions deliver one or the other.
This collaboration delivers both inside a single digital original.

Case study:

The first digital sea waybill with
embedded structured data

In 2025, a collaboration between Lloyds Bank, Maersk, Enigio, and Cleareye.ai delivered a live industry breakthrough:  The first-ever digital Sea waybill with embedded structured data, processed end-to-end in a real shipment.

The shipment

A tea consignment transported from Kenya → United Kingdom.

The document

A digital Sea Waybill created using Enigio’s trace: original, embedding:

~30 data elements, fully aligned to ICC DSI’s Key Trade Documents & Data Elements (KTDDE) framework.

The processing

The digital original was ingested into Cleareye’s ClearTrade® platform, where:

  • 100% of embedded data was extracted accurately
  • Zero manual reconciliation was required
  • The document was validated automatically against banking rules
  • Structured data flowed through banking systems without rekeying

The outcome

A real, production-grade proof of interoperability: from document creation → data assurance → automated compliance.

The first live demonstration of how standards + trusted originals + intelligent data can transform trade finance.

A repeatable blueprint for Bills of Lading, Guarantees, BoEs, warehouse receipts, and more.

This is not a controlled pilot. This is real-world intelligent trade in action.

This is digital trade moving from “digitised paperwork” to intelligent, interoperable flows.
