Node

Node, used in the context of distributed ledger technology (DLT) like blockchain, is a computer connected to the network that maintains a copy of the ledger and participates in validating transactions. Nodes are essential for the operation and security of the network.

Here is how we use nodes in trace:original

To create new trace:original documents, users must either subscribe to or operate a Fullnode.

The easiest way to use a Fullnode is like a digital printer – instead of printing a physical document, you send it to the Fullnode, which creates a unique digital version. This allows businesses to switch from paper documents to digital ones without major changes to their current processes.

A Fullnode comes with a basic web app to create and manage trace:original documents. However, organisations that handle large volumes of documents or need advanced workflows will likely need to integrate their internal systems with the Fullnode using its RESTful API.

A Fullnode connects to both a document store and a keystore to maintain an updated and verified copy of the full trace:original ledger.

Some organisations may not need to create their own documents but still want to manage received ones. These users can run a Stakeholder node, which has the same features as a Fullnode except for document creation.
